Repsol seeks a Production Allocation Engineer to join the Asset Control team for the Unconventional Business Unit, based in The Woodlands, TX. The successful candidate will ensure proper allocation of production back to individual wells and serve as the Unconventional Business Unit's point of contact for allocation methodology. This role involves learning QA/QC processes, validating allocation calculations in hydrocarbon accounting systems, and analyzing daily closing production figures to ensure accurate hydrocarbon accounting. The Allocation Engineer will work in a multi-disciplinary team including operators and accountants to achieve accurate allocation objectives. Key responsibilities include establishing daily and monthly QA/QC tools, managing sampling programs and laboratory analyses, overseeing HySys runs for allocation factors, maintaining PVT tables, identifying meter discrepancies, and serving as the main point of contact for non-operated production and operating expenses. The position requires strong technical expertise in production engineering, thermodynamics, and proficiency with industry-standard software tools. This is a full-time, hybrid position requiring onsite presence in The Woodlands, TX. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organized, and thrive in fast-paced environments while demonstrating excellent communication and problem-solving skills across multi-disciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Be the local reference of the production back allocation process and validate allocation in hydrocarbon accounting system to analyze daily closing production figures
- Establish the daily and monthly QA/QC tools and processes for data entry and the resulting production allocation
- Track and drive progress of new functionalities/methodologies within hydrocarbon accounting system
- Validate existing allocation setups and provide guidance to Production Accounting team and IT when questions arise
- Work closely with various groups to understand actual field setup to ensure correct implementation in hydrocarbon accounting system
- Manage the sampling program, laboratory analyses, and recombination process for allocation purposes
- Conduct QA/QC of sampling analyses (GOR Analysis, Hoffman plot, composition plot)
- Oversee HySys runs to determine appropriate allocation factors for new wells and validate factors for existing production
- Maintain PVT tables in hydrocarbon accounting system – QAQC, Upload, Validation
- Identify meter discrepancies and facilitate resolution actions
- Identify and categorize production forecast changes and explain reconciliation on weekly and monthly basis
- Monitor theoretical vs allocated production and oversee variance (wells, midstations)
- Become the main point of contact for non-operated production and operating expenses
- Effectively work within multi-disciplinary teams and matrix organization
- Establish strong communication channels with field personnel
