EDP Renewables North America is seeking a highly motivated Global Energy Management Lead to drive short- and medium-term asset optimization for its growing ERCOT and SPP renewable energy portfolio. In this role, you will develop and implement power scheduling and hedging strategies to maximize value in wholesale electricity markets while ensuring compliance with risk policies and regulatory requirements. You'll manage day-ahead scheduling, execute power hedges, and procure basis hedges, leveraging advanced analytics to deliver profitable results compared to passive strategies.

You will work at the intersection of energy trading, risk management, and operations, collaborating closely with internal teams and external market participants. Your responsibilities will include monitoring power market trends, developing proprietary trading strategies, and supporting the structuring of short-medium term Power Purchase Agreements. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement robust power scheduling and trading strategies for EDP renewable assets in ERCOT and SPP wholesale power markets
  • Develop and manage hedging strategies for wholesale electricity prices and locational basis to manage EDP risks and positions
  • Execute day-ahead scheduling activities, power hedges, and basis hedges procurement (CRRs/TCRs)
  • Optimize EDP's merchant portfolio aligned with company Energy Management goals
  • Develop and implement proprietary trading strategies including virtuals, power futures, and FTRs
  • Monitor and analyze power market trends, regulatory changes, and factors affecting prices and risk
  • Work with risk and compliance teams to ensure exposure monitoring and regulatory compliance
  • Monitor and report on portfolio performance and related trading books
  • Leverage data analytics and technology to enhance trading performance
  • Support structuring and execution of short-medium term Power Purchase Agreements
  • Foster collaboration with internal departments and maintain relationships with external stakeholders
  • Participate in special projects and duties as assigned
